Show 765 Monday 16 June

Watch today’s show at YouTube or BlipTV.

Hi, I’m Sarah. Welcome to The Daily English Show.

Today I’d like to let you know about a few pages on our website.

The Daily English Show

Another thing you can do to show your support, as you may know, you can become a member.
And you can find out more about that by going to this page:

And we have some giveaways for members. As I mentioned last week we have some Super Simple Sings CDs to give away at the end of July, August and September, which is very exciting.

One of the things that I love about Super Simple Songs is that they let people upload videos of kids doing actions or singing along to their songs, which is awesome.

With a lot of music published by big companies you’d never get permission to do that. And it’s really cool to see how different people use the songs in their classes and you can get ideas for how to use them in your classes. And the kids are really cute too.

STICK NEWS

Kia Ora, this is Stick News. Hundreds of naked cyclists went for a bike ride in London last Friday. They were protesting against oil dependency and car culture as well as celebrating body freedom.

The World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) is an international clothing-optional bike ride.
The first event was held in 2004.
This year it was held for the fifth time in many cities around the world including Vancouver, Auckland, Seattle and London.
Organisers said around 1200 people took part in the London event. Clothed police officers on bicycles escorted the naked cyclists on the six mile ride through London.

And that was Stick News for Monday 16th of June.
Kia Ora.

Word of the Day

Today’s word is kit.

Kit is a British English word for clothes.

Get your kit off means get naked.

And here are some more words for naked:

nude
in the buff
in one’s birthday suit
in the nuddy
starkers

#469 Would you do it?

Step 1: Repeat Tina’s lines.
Step 2: Read Tina’s lines and talk to Sarah.

Tina Would you do it?

Sarah The naked bike ride?

Tina Yeah.

Sarah Mmm, maybe. How about you?

Tina No way.

Sarah Really? I think it would be quite fun. If it wasn’t too cold.

Tina But there are so many people taking photos.

Sarah Yeah, I wouldn’t be so keen on that.

Tina And it’s not really fair that some people are wearing clothes.

Sarah True. It would be better if everyone was naked.
