#824 Canyoning In Niseko, Japan

Show 824 Saturday 13 September
Watch today’s show at YouTube or BlipTV.

Last Sunday knf went on a canyoning tour with Scott Adventure Sports which an adventure sports company here in Niseko.
They have some stylish yurts at their headquarters.

There were about ten people on the tour.
First they put on wetsuits and boots.
Then they drove to the river.
They put on special yellow sliding pants to protect their backsides and help them slide over the rocks.

The side with writing on it faces inwards.
Cover your behind, like this.
Then click this closed and adjust it.
And this part goes around your thigh.
Here you go.

And they put on lifejackets, helmets and gloves.

I've never done any canyoning before - although I spent a lot of my childhood playing in rivers - and I wasn't quite sure what it was.

Wikipedia says
: Canyoning (known as canyoneering in the US) is travelling in canyons using a variety of techniques that may include walking, scrambling, climbing, jumping, abseiling, and/or swimming.

It looked like they were having a lot of fun walking, scrambling, sliding and floating along the river.

They also made a floating circle and took a few photos and jumped off a waterfall.

And at the end of the course, they drank some delicious local spring water.
