On day 14 we watched the sun rise over the Moeraki Boulders. It was a beautiful way to start the day.
We had some breakfast and waited for the shop to open so we could buy a postcard. I had a flat white at the cafe overlooking the boulders. I sent the postcard to Canada and then we drove to Dunedin.
We stopped briefly in Palmerston because I thought it would be fun to send a Palmerston postcard to our friends in Palmerston North. But they didn’t have any postcards.
In Dunedin we had lunch at a restaurant called Circadian Rhythm. And we found some coffee at a place called Strictly Coffee.
We walked up Baldwin Street, the world’s steepest residential street.
After Baldwin Street, we went to see the house where I was born. Well, the outside of the house. I didn’t actually grow up in Dunedin, I was just born here and my mum left when I was still a toddler. I’ve been back to visit the house a few times. This is me outside the house in 1987. And this is me on the roof of the house in 1980 with mygrandad and my sister.
This is a new stadium. Apparently it’s due to be finished in August and is New Zealand’s first fully-covered stadium. They’re going to play some Rugby World Cup games here in September and October this year.
This is the Dunedin Railway Station.
This is a beach near the place we stayed. It’s called St Kilda beach.
And this is a postcard of Baldwin Street which I sent to Spain.
In themorning one of my front teeth broke. Well the tooth actually broke a long time ago, but the filling decided to fall out in the morning and leave me looking like a witch. So I spent a few hours in the afternoon ringing every dentist in Dunedin and they were all booked out so I’d pretty much given up. But in the evening the emergency dentist got back to me and said they had a spare appointment, which was great, even though it cost an extra $80 for the after hours appointment. Ouch.
This is my tooth before the dentist. And this isafter .
