Sunday Kitchen #90 Matsutake Gohan Bimbo Version

There’s a famous mushroom in Japan called matsutake.
A common thing to make with matsutake is matsutake gohan.

Matsutake is very expensive so I’ve never actually bought it, but thanks to my active imagination, I have created a special dish called Matsutake Gohan Bimbo Version.
Bimbo(貧乏), as in the Japanese word for poor, not the English word bimbo.

Now everyone can enjoy Matsutake Gohan.

First, take some shiitake mushrooms and rename them. They don’t really look like matsutake, but that doesn’t matter.

I would normally use more than two mushrooms, but after I decided to make this I realized I only had two mushrooms and I couldn’t be bothered going to buy some more.

Put some rice in the rice cooker bowl. Add water and wash the rice of course. Then add the mushrooms. I put in half a packet of konbu dashi, a tablespoon of soy sauce and a tablespoon of cooking sake.
I don’t usually measure these, but I was in a measuring mood for some reason.

Mix it and put it in the rice cooker.
When it’s finished cooking, take it out and stir it.

Mmm. Delicious.
