Show 1281 Sunday 22 August
Sunday Kitchen #170 Afghans
Today I made some traditional New Zealand biscuits called Afghans.
I put 1/2 a cup of sugar in a bowl with 1/2 a cup of oil.
I added 2 tablespoons of water and mixed it.
In another bowl I mixed together 1 1/2 cups of flour and 1/4 cup of cocoa and then I added that to the wet stuff.
Finally I mixed in 1 cup of cornflakes.
I pressed spoonfuls into biscuit shapes and I put them on an oven tray lined with baking paper.
I baked them for 15 minutes at 180 degrees.
I took them out of the oven and put them on a wire rack and left them to cool down.
Then I came back and I melted ten pieces of chocolate.
I put a spoonful of melted chocolate on top of each biscuit and then a piece of walnut on top of that. I think you’re supposed to put half a walnut on each biscuit, but I didn’t have many walnuts, so I broke them into lots of small pieces.
These afghans are so good.
