Hi, I’m Sarah, welcome to The Daily English Show. Today we’re studying a song called:
My Body Is A Cage.
It’s by a Canadian band called Arcade Fire.
I found out about this band because they did a live concert which was broadcast on YouTube.
This is one of those songs that could mean many things … it’s really open to interpretation.
Here’s the chorus:
My body is a cage that keeps me
From dancing with the one I love
But my mind holds the key
What does that mean?
Well, to keep somebody from something, means to prevent somebody from doing something.
So it means: My body is in a cage which prevents me from dancing with the one I love.
And what does that mean? Well, I read many theories on the internet and it could be that a loved one has died and because the singer’s still alive he can’t dance, or be with, his loved one.
Or it could be that something’s actually physically wrong with his body and that keeps him from dancing, or being with, his loved one.
Or it could be about feeling trapped by your insecurities. Your insecurities are preventing you, or keeping you, from realizing your true potential.

Kia ora in Stick News today Hollywood lawyers are threatening a New Zealand parody website.
The Hollywood Sign is a famous landmark in California that was created in 1923.
This year Wellington Airport in New Zealand announced they were going to build a sign mimicking the Hollywood sign.
Locals were unimpressed with idea.
Thankfully Hollywood lawyers saved Wellington from the visual pollution.
Now the lawyers are busy again trying to shut down a website which parodies the Wellywood sign idea.
