Show 1086 Friday 10 July Watch today’s show at YouTube or BlipTV.
Hi, I’m Sarah, welcome to The Daily English Show.
Today is Friday so we’re studying a song. And speaking of music, just a reminder that we have four tickets to the Hanazono Kutchan Music Festival to give away. And you can find out more about that here if you’re interested.
Today we’re studying another Michael Jackson song called: Man In The Mirror. It came out in 1988.
The song’s about a person who looks around themselves and sees things in the world that they want to change.
For example: I see the kids in the street With not enough to eat
And he realizes that he’s been living his life selfishly, not really thinking about other people:
I've been a victim of A selfish kind of love It's time that I realize There are some with no home
And he realizes that if he wants to make a positive change in the world, then he has to start with himself first.
I'm starting with the man in the mirror I'm asking him to change his ways
I think it’s a beautiful song with a great message:
If you wanna make the world a better place Take a look at yourself and then make a change
An operating system is a set of programs that controls the way a computer works and runs other programs. Apparently, Microsoft's Windows operating system has a huge global usage share. But Google has just announced they’re going to release an operating system. It will be called Chrome and will be available to consumers in the second half of 2010.
And that was Stick News for Friday 10th of July. Kia ora.
