Today’s song is called: Is You Is Or Is You Ain't My Baby.
It’s by an American guy called Louis Jordan. And it was released in 1944.
Is you is or is you ain’t my baby means: Are you or are you not my girlfriend?
In Wikipedia it says that is you is or is you ain't is dialect from somewhere in the US … but I’m not sure if people still say that these days.
In the song, Louis Jordan sings about a girl that he has been dating, but he’s not sure if they’re still together.
The song starts like this:
I got a gal who's always late
Any time we have a date
But I love her
Yes I love her
Gal is an old-fashioned, informal word for girl.
I'm gonna walk right up to her gate
And see if I can get it straight
'Cause I want her
I'm gonna ask her
Is you is or is you ain't my baby?
Get something straight is an idiom which means: to make sure that you or sb else understands the situation.
You can use this idiom when you’re checking that you understand what someone has said, especially when you have some doubts about what they’re saying.
So let me get this straight, you can’t show me your homework because the cat ate it?
And Louis suspects that his girl has found a new guy.
He says: Maybe baby’s found somebody new.

Kia ora in Stick News today Apple has denied that its CEO tried to smuggle ninja stars out of Japan.
Steve Jobs is the CEO of Apple.
Recently he visited Japan with his family.
According to a Japanese newspaper, when they left, Steve tried to take ninja stars onto a private plane.
But a security scan detected the weapons and Steve was prevented from talking them aboard the plane.
Apparently Steve then told officials he would never visit Japan again.
A spokesperson for Apple said the story was pure fiction.

The adjective joint means: shared, held, or made by two or more people. For example you can have a joint bank account.
One of the informal meanings they have here is a cannabis cigarette.
And another one of the informal meanings is a kind of shop, or restaurant, or bar. And that’s what Louis Jordan is talking about in another one of his songs called Let The Good Times Roll.
