Show 1268 Monday 9 August
Hi, I’m Sarah, welcome to The Daily English Show.
I thought I’d start out today by telling you a bit about what’s coming up on the show.
The studio tdes crew recently visited a city called Hamilton in New Zealand.
And while we were there we interviewed some people in the street and asked them what they thought of the city. So that’s coming up in Question Time this week.
And next week on The Daily English Show we have a guest.
We’ve had a bit of a break from Monday Guest recently … but I am very excited to announce that we’re starting that again. And our guest next week is a New Zealander who was born in India.
STICK NEWS
Kia ora in Stick News today a man survived a 23-metre fall off of the Grand Canyon.
The Grand Canyon is a canyon in Arizona in the United States.
It’s a popular tourist destination.
Wikipedia says Grand Canyon National Park attracts about five million visitors per year.
Last week an 18-year-old French tourist was taking pictures near the rim of the canyon, when he slipped and fell 23 metres.
The man survived and was treated for wrist, ankle and neck injuries.
And that was Stick News for Monday the 9th of August.
Kia ora.
It's scary.
Don't worry so much...

Step 1: Repeat Matias’ lines.
Step 2: Read Matias’ lines and talk to Sarah.
Matias Have you been to the Grand Canyon?
Sarah No, but I’ve built it.
Matias You’ve built it?
Sarah Yeah, in a sandpit.
Matias What’s a sandpit?
Sarah It’s a kind of box with sand in it that you play in.
Matias Do you have a sand pit?
Sarah Not now, but we had one at my primary school and we used to build the Grand Canyon in it.
