Hi, I’m Sarah, welcome to The Daily English Show.
Today’s mistake is: Do you know where is the post office?
This should be: Do you know where the post office is?
I’ve seen people make this mistake quite often. And I think it’s understandable because if you ask: Where is the post office? Then the is comes after the where. But if you add do you know to the start, then the is changes position to the end.
Here are some other examples which follow this pattern:
Why is she crying?
Do you know why she’s crying?
How did she get here?
Do you know how she got here?
What’s she drinking?
Do you know what she’s drinking?
Who’s she?
Do you know who she is?
STICK NEWS
Kia Ora, this is Stick News. Yesterday, YouTube Rickrolled everybody as an April Fools’ Day prank.
Rickrolling is an Internet meme involving Rick Astley's music video for his song "Never Gonna Give You Up".
Wikipedia says, in a Rickroll, a person provides a link they claim is relevant to the topic at hand which actually takes the user to the Astley video.
Rickrolling is a variation of an earlier internet prank called duckrolling.
On April Fools’ Day YouTube rickrolled its users by linking every video on the homepage to the Rick Ashley video.
And that was Stick News for Wednesday the 2nd of April.

Word Of The Day
Today’s word is meme.
This word looks like it could be pronounced mimi or meme – but no, it rhymes with seem. Meme.
Wikipedia says: A meme consists of any unit of cultural information, such as a practice or idea, that gets transmitted verbally or by repeated action from one mind to another.
And an internet meme is a new term used to describe a catchphrase or concept that spreads in a faddish way from person to person via the Internet.
Rick Rolling is an example of an internet meme.

#421 What did they do?
Step 1: Repeat Jake’s lines.
Step 2: Read Jake’s lines and talk to Sarah.
Jake Did you see any other interesting April Fools’ Day pranks?
Sarah I thought Smosh’s one was pretty well done.
Jake What did they do?
Sarah They said they’d been sued by the makers of Pokemon for using the Pokemon song without permission.
Jake Is that what they did?
Sarah Yeah, so I believed it for a couple of seconds because I was just thinking that it was kind of strange that they could get away with launching their careers by using a song without permission.
Jake But they didn’t get sued.
Sarah No. The video was just removed from YouTube about a year ago.
