Show 988 Friday 6 March
Watch today’s show at YouTube or BlipTV.
Hi, I’m Sarah, welcome to The Daily English Show.
The song I recommend today is called Hot N Cold by Katy Perry.
I don’t really like this song, but I think a few people do. One of the videos on YouTube has more than 40 million hits.
Anyway, I think this could be a good song to listen to or sing along to, to practice opposites.
These are the opposites she sings about:
hot / cold
yes / no
in / out
up / down
wrong / right
black / white
fight, break up / kiss, make up
STICK NEWS
Kia ora in Stick News today education officials in Pennsylvania accidentally sold a classroom on ebay for $1.
According to news reports a school district in the United States was attempting to sell seven used portable classrooms. They’d bought the classrooms three years ago for about $46,000. They decided to sell them on eBay and were expecting to get between 5 and 10 thousand dollars per classroom. But they made a mistake which allowed someone to buy one classroom for only a dollar. A spokesperson said they tried to back out of the sale, but they couldn’t. She was asked if the remaining classrooms would be sold on eBay, and she replied: "No I don't think we will go that route again."
And that was Stick News for Friday the 6th of March.
Kia ora.

The adverb is: cryptically.
In the song Katy Perry sings:
And you always think Always speak Cryptically
* These lines start here from :051
Which means: it’s hard to understand what he thinks or says.

#622 What do you call them?
Step 1: Repeat Natalie’s lines.
Step 2: Read Natalie’s lines and talk to Sarah.
Natalie Did you use portable classrooms in New Zealand?
Sarah Yeah, we do. We had one at my primary school. And one at my high school too actually, come to think of it. But we didn’t call them portable classrooms though.
Natalie What do you call them?
Sarah Prefabs. Yeah, I remember our prefab arriving on a barge. It was very exciting.
